South Korea's first modern submarine class, license-built from the German Type 209/1200 design and later exported to Indonesia as the Nagapasa class. It provided the industrial foundation for South Korea's subsequent indigenous submarine programs, with 9 boats built for the Republic of Korea Navy and 3 for Indonesia.
